At Cross Town Promotions we publish various media targeted specifically at Waterloo Region residents. The general theme is to highlight programs, products and services offered by local businesses and community organizations: recreation, personal development, nutrition, restaurants, home services, professional services... there is really no limit to what we will be covering...as long as the emphasis is on Waterloo Region.
Guest Blogging
We are opening up the possibility of featuring content submitted by aspiring writers. This content could be in the form of an article, an interview, or reporting on an event. We're open to anything that is worthy of being published in "Around Waterloo Region", in other media we control, or have a publishing arrangement with.
Content Guidelines
- Blog posts should be between 400 and 1000 words.
- Subject matter must be about or relevant in some interesting way to Waterloo Region.
- All material will be subject to approval by Cross Town Promotions. Suggested edits will be submitted to the writer for approval before publication.
- Posts are not meant to be opinion pieces and should not focus on religious or political topics except as strictly descriptive or comparative. For example promoting a specific political or religious point of view is not acceptable. Comparing or listing alternative political or religious ideas, organizations, individuals, etc. is acceptable if alternative views are given fair treatment.
- Appropriate accompanying photographs or videos - we encourage our writers to provide these, up to a realistic number.
- Copyright for published material will be owned by Cross Town Promotions.
- Compensation for published material will be agreed upon before publication, but is usually about $20 per published submission.
Some Suggested Topics
- Community organizations - overview of programs or special events
- Seasonal activity opportunities - e.g., hockey, baseball, football, lacrosse, soccer, etc.
- Pricing comparisons for common products from competing major stores in Waterloo Region - e.g., groceries, home repair, electronics, sports products or programs, fitness, fashion, etc.
- Historical pieces on towns, individuals, institutions, etc. in the Region.
- Lists of alternative local (Waterloo Region) sources for or providers of things such as sporting goods, dining, entertainment, fast food, hardware, cars, trucks, electronic goods, music lessons, fitness etc.
- Upcoming events (not promotions), registration dates, etc.
